In a sense, all trucks are delivery trucks-their purpose is to haul things from one place to another. The first delivery vehicles were carts, wagons, and sleds pulled by draft animals. As America entered the twentieth century, motorized trucks gradually replaced draft animals, in particular, the horses. Prior to widespread automobile ownership, both urban and rural residents relied on vendors using delivery vehicles to bring needed goods and services directly to them.
